[iPad Mini Day Continues!] 3 iPad mistakes that the iPad Mini needs to fix - Black - 10-06-2012 http://www.slashgear.com/three-ipad-mistakes-the-ipad-mini-needs-to-fix-05250760/ Re: [iPad Mini Day Continues!] 3 iPad mistakes that the iPad Mini needs to fix - Robert M - 10-06-2012 Black, I'm still trying to figure out what mistakes to which the article refers. Weight? Would I like to see a lighter ipad? Sure. Is this an issue? Far from. The ipad isn't that heavy. Besides, common sense dictates that holding an ipad a foot over a laptop is a _very_ bad idea. That's just asking for trouble. Price? I'd like to see lower prices. Everyone wants to see Apple sells its products for less money. But, price isn't the only factor when people buy an ipad. Apple will take that into consideration when they price the ipad mini. Free cellular data? An awesome idea. I don't see it happening anytime soon but it would be a welcome improvement. But, this isn't a mistake. Now, if Apple releases an ipad mini (or standard ipad) with, for the sake of discussion, free Edge data, that'd be a mistake. Fortunately, the powers that be at Apple aren't stupid enough to do something so misguided. Robert Re: [iPad Mini Day Continues!] 3 iPad mistakes that the iPad Mini needs to fix - GGD - 10-06-2012 So, if we combine what this guy says in this article with what he says in the article in the thread below this http://www.slashgear.com/the-ipad-mini-will-be-free-heres-why-05250779/ He thinks the iPad should be free, the data should be free, and somehow someone should be able to subsidize this. He seems to be covering all bases. The free data might actually be a possibility without Apple doing anything, if FreedomPop can be successful. I'm still amazed that Ooma has lasted as long as they have (I use them but don't pay them any monthly charges). Re: [iPad Mini Day Continues!] 3 iPad mistakes that the iPad Mini needs to fix - Filliam H. Muffman - 10-06-2012 I agree with the iPad being too heavy and too expensive. Leave the viewable screen size the same but cut the border down 1 cm and it will drop the weight 8%. 48 GB of flash does not cost an extra $200. Make only one model for $429 with either 64 GB, or put in a micro SD slot which will allow people to buy more and more storage as prices come down. Re: [iPad Mini Day Continues!] 3 iPad mistakes that the iPad Mini needs to fix - Black - 10-06-2012 If you're going to entertain the SD slot fantasy, may as well go all the way and wish for user-upgradeable memory. Re: [iPad Mini Day Continues!] 3 iPad mistakes that the iPad Mini needs to fix - vision63 - 10-06-2012 Being that a smaller iPad would be a "me too" device (nothin' wrong with that), nothing he mentions would a revelation. Now if they vastly reduced the price of the existing iPads, that would truly be something. Take the best iPad and make it $299. Nobody would care how heavy or unwieldily it is. Then you just "bootleg" the data that you already pay for with your cell service. Re: [iPad Mini Day Continues!] 3 iPad mistakes that the iPad Mini needs to fix - Filliam H. Muffman - 10-06-2012 I don't know of a tablet or phone with upgradeable memory, so that is a fantasy. Fortunately, the powers that be at Apple aren't stupid enough to do something so misguided. That would be great. Faster A-GPS syncing, email, chat, Messages, and even light web browsing. What's the downside? Re: [iPad Mini Day Continues!] 3 iPad mistakes that the iPad Mini needs to fix - Robert M - 10-07-2012 Silvarios, The downside is the performance. Edge is barely adequate for any of the tasks you described o the point that it'd be frustrating. On the plus side, it'd inspire people to subscribe to a data plan that offers better performance because they couldn't deal with Edge service. Robert |
