FU / Facepalm: Refrigerator broken ? NOPE ! - cbelt3 - 01-11-2013

Followup to this moment of panic, and the next evening's entertainment of tracing wires and cables and whatnot....

The burning /oily smell in the kitchen ?

It was from a 'potpourri heater' that mrs. cbelt3 had left on. And had boiled itself dry. Which semi-oily gunk then proceeded to smolder.

It's gone, and the odor of burning.. whatever is no longer around. My melted neurons, OTOH....

D'oh !

so, what kind of fridge did you get ?

The old one is still there. It was running OK and all the circuits tested out. I was going crazy trying to find the source of the 'melty problem'. Aaargghhh.

Perhaps the mrs. "forgot" the potpourri because the mrs. wants a new fridge... Confusedecret:

cbelt,

That's annoying. As my good friend Homer would say..... D'oh! Glad it wasn't the fridge. Methinks you should remove the 'potpourri heater' from the premises. I don't allow devices of that type in my home because they are too easy to forget and leave on, just like what happened in your kitchen. Same goes for Glade plug-ins and similar kind of devices.

Go ahead and vacuum it out as an act of penance (it probably needs it anyway)

Gaak! I hope it isn't one of those Glade plug-in Home Incinerator models. Countless house fires have resulted from them.
