So much for the sequester...... - samintx - 03-22-2013

Now we have an extra 200 million to give to Jordan for syrian refugees. I thought there was no money for anything....like air controllers etc.

How many f-35s have we cancelled orders on? Because just one of those would pay for this.

Did you think that because of the sequester that government agencies would cease spending money? Or maybe just that agencies you don't like would stop spending money you don't like being spent? The sequester is in effect, and all agencies are cut; they aren't cut to $0.00.

P.S. This extra aid won't be spent unless House Republicans vote for it.

sam.. 'foreign aid' is actually a nicely inexpensive way to accomplish two things,

1- Employ American companies (lots of it goes to purchases that must use American companies. Especially weapons deals).
2- Provide politico/military buffers against anti-American and anti-peace forces in the region without direct involvement of US personnel. Start tossing smart bombs, and that $200M will evaporate like a snowball in the sahara. Heck.. $200 M is the cost of firing off about 50 cruise missiles.

I say let those Syrian kids suffer so the Orange Crybaby can have his way.

Government has announced this p.m. many air controllers being dropped. My airport for one...all over the country but we have big bucks to send overseas. Charity begins at home! is an old but valid saying.

How many towers does it take to buy an F-35?

one note samba...I'll stop now.

Charity does begin at home, unless it's spent on keeping people healthy. Apparently.

Somebody needs to write an explanation for how the sequester works so that we don't have to go through this every time someone thinks that sequester cuts are fungible so that a program they favor will not get cut at all and another program they don't like will have to take a bigger cut to make up for it. For now, I'll just summarize: the sequester mandates cuts in each program in the government that falls under its provisions; cuts are NOT fungible - you can't move them around amongst departments much less programs within a department.
