["Rogue dentist"]No money wasted on government oversight here. - Black - 03-31-2013 http://abcnews.go.com/Health/oklahoma-dentists-patients-struggle-cope-hiv-hepatitis-scare/story?id=18845114#.UVf5gBk1HR0 Re: ["Rogue dentist"]No money wasted on government oversight here. - voodoopenguin - 03-31-2013 Just wondering what the implications are for those possibly at risk in the provision of health care with the current situation. I'm not fully au fait with this health care reform you lot are going through but previously how would they be affected with the obtaining of health insurance and what is new now? I know what would happen here in the UK. Paul Re: ["Rogue dentist"]No money wasted on government oversight here. - cbelt3 - 03-31-2013 'healthcare' in the US does not include dental care. Not sure why.. it's rather foolish considering the number of problems you can have from dental problems. Quality monitoring in the US of dental providers is done at the state level. http://www.tsbde.state.tx.us/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=152&Itemid=145 In most cases quality and safety are self-policed. Re: ["Rogue dentist"]No money wasted on government oversight here. - deckeda - 03-31-2013 The "health reform" here is mostly related to cost and availability for those who don't have it although there other discussions regarding changes to practices and procedures. The Oklahoma dentist issue is odd. Seems like his business catered to high risk patients or perhaps the neighborhoods fell apart and became high risk, and that he'd already resigned (or consigned?) them to further risk. Re: ["Rogue dentist"]No money wasted on government oversight here. - voodoopenguin - 03-31-2013 I suppose I was wondering if obtaining health insurance might now be more difficult for those who admit they might have been placed at risk by being treated by this dentist.
