Interesting. However, why would a government want to deny the opportunity for more taxyapers ?

Can someone explain how straight couples go about proving that they've had sex for a year without conception? I'm just curious why you can't walk in and lie about that.

Should single women who request fertility treatments be denied because they are unmarried? Is marital status and family structure relevant to the provision of medical care? When did we reintroduce morality into medicine? Should doctors be able to judge whether a women is of 'appropriate moral standing' to receive a prescription for contraceptives? Should men be denied vasectomies if the surgeon thinks they are likely to 'abuse their liberty' after the procedure?

It was that damn Hippocrates. Insisting the doctor not take liberty with the household female slaves.

Seriously the conflation of 'ethics' and 'morality' is always a problem in any field of endeavour.

Let's hope we've come a little distance since Hippocrates. I'd rather not go back that far. In fact, i'd rather not even go back to the 1960s, when paternalistic physicians were all too comfortable moralizing, particularly at women, about their sexual habits and procreative priorities.

FYI: It is "afforded" or "being offered" but never "being afforded".
