First Obama wasn't "black" enuf said Rangel or - samintx - 05-09-2013 one of that group....now Richardson says Cruz isn't Hispanic enuf. All interesting, silly comments. Re: First Obama wasn't "black" enuf said Rangel or - SteveG - 05-09-2013 huh? Woo! Is he rich enough? Woo! Re: First Obama wasn't "black" enuf said Rangel or - cbelt3 - 05-09-2013 Politicians tend to default to their elementary school role as playground bullies when they don't have anything intelligent to say. Expect "Yo Momma" or "Neener Neener" to show up next. Re: First Obama wasn't "black" enuf said Rangel or - Lemon Drop - 05-09-2013 Here's Richardson's unfortunate comment if like me you missed it. Apparently he has apologized for it. Ted Cruz is the Senate's Michele Bachmann. He'll run in the 2016 primary and make Rubio and Ryan look like sane moderates by comparison. Former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D), a leading Hispanic voice in the Democratic Party, said Sunday that Republican Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) shouldn’t be considered a Hispanic. Asked in a web interview with ABC’s “This Week” whether Cruz represents most Hispanics, Richardson said the senator does not. Then he went a step further and suggests Cruz himself shouldn’t be labeled as Hispanic. “He’s anti-immigration. Almost every Hispanic in the country wants to see immigration reform,” Richardson said. “I don’t think he should be defined as a Hispanic.” Cruz’s father is Cuban, and his mother is white. Re: First Obama wasn't "black" enuf said Rangel or - Mac-A-Matic - 05-09-2013 It all sounds like stereotyping to me. A hispanic person doesn't fit into the expectation of what a "hispanic" person should be, so he shouldn't be considered "hispanic." That's just ridiculous. People of any ethnicity are going to be diverse and disparate, doesn't mean they're not of that ethnicity. Look at black people. Just the other day, people were cringing about Justice Thomas because he's so conservative - as though blacks are "supposed to be" liberal (or they're not really black). Certainly white democrats don't look at white republicans and think "he shouldn't be considered white." Re: First Obama wasn't "black" enuf said Rangel or - August West - 05-09-2013 ...or one of that group.... Prejudicial speech is a terrible thing, isn't it, sam. Re: First Obama wasn't "black" enuf said Rangel or - $tevie - 05-09-2013 This thread is like a blender and everyone is throwing stuff into it and making a dog's dinner. Too much fudging going on in this thread. Nothing will make what Richardson said okay. Richardson was wrong to say what he said. End of story. PS: Clarence Thomas IS a tool. End of story. |
