I see the point. But I'm not sure staying out would solve the problem. We stayed out in Egypt, and that's not working out so well. Switzerland can stay out and nobody cares. The U.S. as the strongest player in the world, with vital economic tendrils in every corner of the globe, gets sucked into everything one way or the other.

I presume the problem you see is that we get wrapped up in others' affairs where there is no choice that will work to our benefit. You see the solution as not getting involved. I'm saying our involvement is inevitable, like it or not.
