What does this weird email mean? - GeneL - 01-04-2006 I received the following message in my morning emails. It appears to be something I sent but I never sent anything like this. I see this phrase in some of the text: Diagnostic-Code: SMTP; 554 TRANSACTION FAILED - Unrepairable Virus Detected. Your mail has not been sent. Should I just ignore and delete it or must I do something about it. If so, what? The original message was received at Wed, 4 Jan 2006 11:13:30 -0500 (EST) > from static-71-249-244-74.nycmny.east.verizon.net [71.249.244.74] > > > *** ATTENTION *** > > Your e-mail is being returned to you because there was a problem with its > delivery. Delete it; you can't do a thing about it. Put on your tin foil hat! They're listening... Re: What does this weird email mean? - pinion - 01-04-2006 /em pulls out his tin foil hat! Re: What does this weird email mean? - Don Kiyoti - 01-04-2006 Probably not a swell idea to post all those folks' email addresses to a forum like this (even if they're all AOL users). Re: What does this weird email mean? - pinion - 01-04-2006 But none of them were good email addresses. Re: What does this weird email mean? - $tevie - 01-04-2006 Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. You should edit your post and get rid of all those addresses, GeneL. Re: What does this weird email mean? - jimbrady - 01-04-2006 Second the motion to delete most of your initial post--nobody looked at all that crap anyway. Calling it "spoofing" an email address gives the practice more credit than it deserves--anyone with an email client can do it in about twelve seconds. Re: What does this weird email mean? - ka jowct - 01-04-2006 Someone who has your name in their e-mail client's address book has been infected with a virus? Very possible... did you edit that post yet, GeneL? |
