Lifehacker: Our List of the Best Mac Apps - jdc - 07-15-2013 Lifehacker Pack for Mac 2013: Our List of the Best Mac Apps A pretty good list. http://lifehacker.com/lifehacker-pack-for-mac-2013-our-list-of-the-best-mac-635303836 Re: Lifehacker: Our List of the Best Mac Apps - Robert M - 07-15-2013 jdc, I disagree. It's a decent list at best. I nearly stopped reading after they recommended Sparrow as an email client. This is an application that has reached its end of life and is no longer in development. A pretty good list would've chosen a candidate that enjoys active development. FWIW, I tried Sparrow and didn't like it at all. But, I know it has a huge following. Nonetheless, it doesn't belong on the list. In this day and age of web sites and such, I'm surprised they didn't include a password manager in their list of utilities. 1Password is definitely worthy of being on a Best Mac Apps list. Robert Re: Lifehacker: Our List of the Best Mac Apps - Filliam H. Muffman - 07-15-2013 Dropbox still had serious problems for users that go through secure proxy servers the last time I checked. Someone was trying to send me a 20 MB file that the Exchange server kept on bouncing because it was too big, and the only way Dropbox would let me log in to a "secure" folder was with their special App that could not figure out how to connect through a slightly more advanced than average proxy server. I ended up wasting almost an hour. It would have been faster for me to drive home and download the file over my Scumcast connection and drive back to work than try to troubleshoot their PITA program. I have mentioned this here before - many many many of the links that folks are posting here (and on other forums) from their oh-so-easy-to-use dropbox account, are not visible/accessible to many people that are stuck behind a corporate firewall at work... |
