Cluster boxes in my neighborhood - built in 1989.
In college no one in town got home mail delivery - everyone, townies included, had to rent a P.O. Box.

Sounds like a Cluster... mailbox... kerfluffle. But yes... lots of small towns provided mail delivery to the post office only. I'm also surprised they're not considering killing rural delivery. That can't be efficient. But they tended to outsource that, right ?

Our neighborhood was built in the 1970's. We have curbside delivery but all mailboxes are on oneside of the street in 4 box clusters. I haven't had doorstep service since I lived with my parents growing up.

how will parcel delivery work under this arrangement? would those still get delivered to the door, or will people have to go to the PO to pick them up?

We have always had curbside delivery, well it would be curbside, if we had a curb, but it is mailbox out by the street delivery.
It is individual boxes by the street, so I guess they could theoretically make us cluster the boxes, but I don't know where they would put such a thing, since there are no common areas in our neighborhood.
