Hybrid Ink System: dye and pigment - space-time - 07-25-2013

FYI

Canon releases some new low end printers today and I noticed this new feature. I am not sure if they had this one other models or not, but a year or so ago when I looked into printers I didn't notice it. I guess it must be new.

Hybrid Ink System: Combines dye ink for vivid colors and black pigment ink for sharp text.

Epson also mixed 'em years ago, but wasn't low end, more like mid.

Looks like marketing came up with a new name. My older pixma has two black cartridges, one is dye based and and the other is pigment based.

I don't know what cartridge is used for the B&W proofs though.

My Canon IX6520 mixes them as well. Two black cartridges. Love it.
