What has been your experience? Thanks Re: Checkbook program for mac & IOS - Robert M - 07-25-2013 Jos, Most modern apps have both a Mac and iOS version. My app of choice is Moneydance. I believe iBank offers both as well. So does Moneywiz and a few others. Here is a link with a table listing the major Mac personal finance apps. It doesn't cover all of them but it's a very good tally. I tried a bunch of them and none are a true replacement for the last version of Quicken. Not Quicken Essentials but the real Quicken (which has been updated to work under OS X on intel machines without rosetta). Of the alternatives, my app of choice is Moneydance. Robert Re: Checkbook program for mac & IOS - mattkime - 07-26-2013 who writes checks?? Re: Checkbook program for mac & IOS - josntme - 07-26-2013 Thanks for the info. None look like anything I'd be comfortable using. mattkime wrote: My wife. :banghead: Re: Checkbook program for mac & IOS - Robert M - 07-26-2013 jos, I urge you to give a couple of them a test drive. They can be frustrating at first but, in the long run, well worth the time and investment. These days, Moneydance is a critical application. It provides me access to information in seconds that would be a nightmare to find if I had to delve into statements. Its reporting features aren't as robust as Quicken 2007. It's missing a much needed "reconciliation" report. I need this report for a couple of particular accounts and it's the only reason I keep Quicken 2007 around. Otherwise, I'd've switched to Moneydance entirely by now. Thanks I just moved to Mountain Lion less than a month ago so sync was restored for me (it wasn't working in Snow Leopard for me anymore) and I did a sync both ways just fine - Mac-to-iOS device and then a couple days later iOS device-to-Mac. Of course I started with totally new databases and just imported my transaction history from my banks for the current year as I knew they were all A-OK. But then, I imagine you'll be starting fresh too. ~A |
