And I'm at $15.93/month. That cost will continue to drop, since I'm on Ooma and don't plan on making any changes anytime soon.
I started with a Verizon bare bones landline, then moved to Sunrocket (whoops) for about 4 months, then to Vonage for about 2 years, then prepaid for 2 years through VOIPO, but bought the Ooma about 6 months into that, and haven't spent another penny since. It's kind of funny to look back at my Quicken records to see the costs for all the various services we've used over the years. Despite a lot of money being flushed down the drain, I'm glad to finally be with a service like Ooma that helps me manage those costs quite well (it's free).
Curious if any of the rest of you have records showing how much you've spent on land line phones over the years?

I have not had a home phone "landline" for the past 5 or 6 years, so, zero.
Are you amortizing the cost of the Ooma into your figure as well?

yeah, all costs associated with home phone service, hardware as well.

We are seriously considering dumping our ATT landline. Is Ooma the way to go nowadays?

We love our Ooma. We got ours a bit more than a year ago, so we pay the monthly taxes. It's a bit over $3 per month. I believe that the original Ooma's had no cost because the company paid the monthly taxes.
They very typically have coupons available. We also pay taxes with our Ooma. A bit over $4 a month. I can easily live with that. $99 for the refurb Ooma.

I switched to Viatalk after Sunrocket went belly up. I probably spend under $15/month. When I had Bell South I paid over $40/month for pretty much nothing.

I switched to Suddenlink from MaBelle and cut my landline in half for the same service. I have two land lines...a hangover from the old modem hookups and just have kept the two unlisted lines. My kids are and a couple of others are the only ones that know one phone number. I use the other number for the public.
