Solar Self Sufficiency... Berkely relative - cbelt3 - 08-19-2013 I heard the tale yesterday of my Aunt and Uncle, both in their 70's... they had sold their large house in Berkely at the top of the market. Then at the bottom of the market bought a small apartment building. Then bought a house that had been set up as an all solar house. The Uncle bought himself a Tesla (Yes, they made a ton of money). They have not purchased energy or fuel for a year now, unless they use their gasoline engine car for a long trip. I'm impressed, and jealous. I look forward to being able to contract for panels in the place of my roof at some point. My mother (organic farm in Mo.) just finished getting a solar panel array hooked up on the farm.. a $25K investment that feeds right into the grid, so she doesn't need storage of any sort. She's thinking of putting another set up as an equipment shed to house the tractors. Re: Solar Self Sufficiency...
