How close can cat6 wires run next to each other? - wowzer - 12-08-2013

I have a closet to which I've run all my cat6 cables. I don't want to have interference problems, so was curious if I can bundle the wires together to make the job look neat. Would this be a Problem?

Be sure to keep the distance between wires as shown in this picture and you will be fine. ;-)

As long as they don't occupy the same space and create a quantum singularity - you're good. Big Grin

Exactly. Cascading entropic failure is a b!tch.

Just be careful how you set the tension on your tie wrap gun, and mind your bend radius.

Allow at least one RCH of separation between cables.

Crushing them together or bending them sharply may undo some of the benefits of twisted pair cabling. Running them side-by-side should be harmless.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twisted_pair

Twisted pair cabling is a type of wiring in which two conductors of a single circuit are twisted together for the purposes of canceling out electromagnetic interference (EMI) from external sources; for instance, electromagnetic radiation from unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cables, and crosstalk between neighboring pairs. It was invented by Alexander Graham Bell...

Cat 6 is also shielded. They will be ok. Do not run next to high voltage .

What freeradical, Chak, and cbelt3 said. In addition, keep them away from fluorescent lights.
