IE9 no longer supported? - space-time - 12-08-2013

I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 which came with IE8 but Windows prompted form some updates and now I have IE9. Gmail tells me IE9 is no longer supported. It is from 2011. I guess I need to try IE10? I would think Windows would tell me there is a newer version of IE but no, it tells me my Browser has been updated (to IE9) and how great this is. Like IE10 didn't even exist

Thanks

Sucks. Very Mac-like.

This article explains what's going on: http://www.ghacks.net/2013/11/06/google-drop-support-internet-explorer-9-means/

seems like a good way to force WIN users to get Chrome.

Do you want the most recent version of: IE for Win7, the most recent version of IE, or a specific version of IE?

The "easy way": click on http://support.microsoft.com/, click on IE, pick the version from the dropdown.

install chrome

With the exception of a couple usability/configuration issues, I do use Chrome quite a bit. If it works fine on all the websites you use and don't mind Google being the company you allow to track all your online use, it works well as the default browser.

The M$ site still will occasionally force you to use IE for some support functions so it is a good idea to have a recent/supported version of IE installed and current on patches.

Huh? I use Gmail under IE8 at work. Heck, just a couple of weeks ago, I was still on IE7 and Gmail worked. it complained and said it's not supported, but it works.
