Does anyone know if there is a way to get Verizon FiOS to back down with their bandwidth limiting and demands for payment from Netflix to stream video?

It's damned annoying that I pay verizon over a thousand dollars a year for them to cut my bandwidth usage to netflix. Is there a way to petition/demand Verizon to STOP THIS NONSENSE?

Well, you might be more effective if you ditched Verizon FIOS. I get almost 1.2 Mbps on my DSL. Wanna trade?

Write to the FCC demanding ISP's be designated common carriers. That way it would be illegal for them to discriminate.

wowzer, you might try connecting with a VPN. Verizon won't know who you're connecting to, and so it won't be slowed because of it. http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/02/netflix-slow-on-verizon-or-comcast-a-vpn-might-speed-up-that-video/
But of course, it'll speed up on its own before too long, as Netflix will undoubtably have to capitulate to the extortion of Verizon taking money from both sides now, you ... and the content provider.
What's even better is data caps, like Comcast and AT&T inflict. Netflix will come faster but you'll have to curtail it's use.
We don't pay enough for them to update their network, so we get limits and higher costs. Ain't unbridled corporate greed wonderful?
