BATON ROUGE, La. -- Lawmakers are moving ahead with a proposal to name the Bible as Louisiana's official state book, despite concerns the bill would land the Legislature in court.
But Carmody insisted the bill wasn't designed to be a state-endorsement of Christianity or a specific religion.
"It's not to the exclusion of anyone else's sacred literature," he told the House committee. Again, later he said, "This is not about establishing an official religion of the state of Louisiana."
Good luck with that, Chuckles.
I'm just glad that there are not more pressing issues to address in Louisiana.

Just a reminder that if they gave you 'that old time religion', you'd be Jewish.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran and the Taliban have similar recognition of an 'Official Book', I believe.

I'm glad they're not talking about the whole series. When they changed up the protagonist in the sequel, that totally threw me.

That's not fair!
Several legislators have surely seen books.
There are lots of books on display in churches. Often, tucked right into the backs of the pews where a few brave souls not afraid of "learning" rubbing off on them can actually touch them.

I gave up on the legislators here. Once they began arguing that we should allow guns on campus, I knew that we're dealing with more than a few ding-a-lings.
