I'm getting the 4K itch - sekker - 04-17-2014 Sony's new lineup of 4K 'UHDTVs' is looking really nice. Good enough that I am at least taking a look. http://store.sony.com/4k-ultra-hd-xbr-tvs/cat-27-catid-XBR-4K-Ultra-HD-TVs?affiliateCustomId=6335121&CJURL=http://store.sony.com/4k-ultra-hd-xbr-tvs/cat-27-catid-XBR-4K-Ultra-HD-TVs&camp=CJ_DF&clickId=10396361&affiliateId=&XID=A:6335121:CJ (No, I'm not planning on replacing my 1080P plasma screen - a mere 'HDTV' - but with Apple not offering new Macs to window shop for, a tech junkie has to go somewhere for their fix...) Re: I'm getting the 4K itch - pinion - 04-17-2014 I'm holding out for 16k Re: I'm getting the 4K itch - cbelt3 - 04-17-2014 I would need replacement eyes before it would be a justifiable expense. Re: I'm getting the 4K itch - Filliam H. Muffman - 04-17-2014 The first generation of the '900A models don't support HDMI 2.0. I like the '850 models better because they don't overcharge for the speakers I don't want, but they have the supposed lower quality active 3D. The Sony '900B will likely be what I buy if Panasonic does not release a second generation without the bright vertical bands first. Re: I'm getting the 4K itch - pRICE cUBE - 04-17-2014 I believe I will buy one someday since I can tell the difference but I am not in a hurry. Isn't most of the general public is hard pressed to tell the difference between 480p and 1080p from 10 feet away? Some of my favorite content will never make it to 1080p let alone 4K. Re: I'm getting the 4K itch - davemchine - 04-17-2014 My current favorite tv show is Scarecrow and Mrs King which I doubt would look any better at 4k. :-) Re: I'm getting the 4K itch - datbeme - 04-17-2014 pRICE cUBE wrote: :agree: It's tempting when it seems like the prices are getting really close to those of high end 1080P models, but I still just don't see these early 4K models making sense. These screens will be long in the tooth by the time higher quality content is commonplace, and I am not convinced that they do a better job with most of today's available content. Fortunately, the one that stands out to me, the new Sony 65" with full array local dimming, is still 2-3x what I'm willing to spend for a TV.
