Nice, Walgreens - Black - 05-09-2014 Taking a break from complaining about things for a brief moment.... just a note to say that I've been impressed for a while with the job Walgreens does providing quality and value with its house brands, DeLish and NICE. ![]() A serious and welcome challenge to the expectation that shopping means continually finding that you have to pay more for less. Re: Nice, Walgreens - Racer X - 05-09-2014 Maybe so, but when you send them an 8x10 photo to print through their on-line service, they crop it, even when you reject their auto-crop option. I have been using Photoshop since it shipped on 5 floppies, and I know the file I sent was fine. Soft drinks up the game- their half-gallon, with the conversion to Metric, is actually _bigger_. Except for pump shenanigans, a gallon of gas is still a gallon of gas. I blame coffee. I usually crop my image the way I like and then add a narrow white border (might be wider on top and bottom for example). I then make my file (including borders) exactly 8 x 10 inches. Re: Nice, Walgreens - flightdelayedagain - 05-09-2014 Most chains (food, drug and mass merchandisers) are extremely particular on the products they choose for their private-label brands. It's an arduous process for both the retailer and manufacturer and it can take well over a year for an item to be ready for store shelves. The goal is to have a product as good or better than the national brand while offering a savings to their customers. And for good reason as the profit margin on store brands is considerably higher. Retailers like Trader Joe's have turned Private Label into an art form. Re: Nice, Walgreens - PeterB - 05-09-2014 I'm a fan of the Walgreens/Nice store brand natural almonds. They're usually $7.99/pound, but on sale can usually be found for $5 or less... I like them, as do my hammies. ![]() Re: Nice, Walgreens - Jack D. - 05-09-2014 WHiiP wrote: I blame corporate people who decide screwing the people who buy their product is OK. The new business model dictates that corporations are invincible and damn the customer! So what if you don't like it, there are scores of others who have yet to discover that we are screwing them and when they do...well, there are more new customers beyond that! Quality and value are dead. If I sound cynical, it's probably because I am. Re: Nice, Walgreens - N-OS X-tasy! - 05-09-2014 And now, back to your regularly scheduled complaining.
