CCC without admin account - space-time - 07-10-2014

I just set up a MBA for my Dad. to keep things simple, I have admin account (and I installed teamViewer so I can help him later). Then I also got him a USB 3 portable drive for time machine (large partition) and to clone his drive (smaller partition). everything works fine when I am logged in (I am admin). when I log in with his account, everything works fine, CCC asks me to purchase again (whatever, I just applied the same license code again) and then when I want to clone the internal drive, it asks me to enter the admin password. I guess a standard user (not admin) does not have enough rights to do the clone operation.

Is there a way around this? I'd like him to be a conscious user and clone his drive periodically, but he could make mistakes if he is admin.

Thanks

Why would a standard user be able to clone system files and admin user account files? Kind of defeats the purpose of security completely.

I see your point, but also how do you encourage non-admin users to keep their backup up to date? Time Machine is one option, but I would also like to have an alternative. CCC is one of them. I have a license.

Is there a way to authenticate CCC once and forever (or at least until I change the admin password)?

Thanks

Set up a scheduled task and then you don't need to keep entering the admin password. I use this set up quite a bit. Works fine.

Edit: To clarify, I meant CCC works fine with a standard account, even one with parental controls.

Yes, but once the task is configured, everything should run fine on limited user accounts.
