OmniWeb. Wow. - tuqqer - 08-15-2006

OmniWeb just came out with a fresh beta today:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/3253

This is the first time I've been really impressed with a browser interface enough to perhaps stop using Safari. Just really fast, nice features that haven't taken a peek into the user guide to figure out.

Anyone else falling in love with this $30 beauty? Or have I just got stars in my eyes and will soon find all its warts and faults?

If I have to pay for a browser then it's not going on my machine.

I've been using OmniWeb since VPFranx recommended it to me ages ago on that other forum. I've developed a good relationship with Omni, and happily paid for the browser a long time ago. Excellent, first-rate web browser. Amazing feature set.

You have to pay for all browsers. Some you pay for in dollars, some you pay for in time lost.

I'm with IronMac on this one. I'm not paying $30 for a browser.

safari has a bunch of add ons to make it a lot like omni -- including window tabs popup blocking, etc

They add some features, but not all. And the way those features are implemented are much more smoothly than the add-ons. The way I look at it, if you make $10/hr OW only has to save you 44 seconds per work day before it saves you more money than it costs.

If you bill at $100/hr, that's 4.4 seconds (going on a 2000hr/yr average.)

But everyone can do what they want. Some people use Linux because they think an OS should be free too.
