Best move ever.
Cruise has spun out of control.
His rat-riddled boat is sinking fast.

I think he just needs ritalin, since he seems to have a chemical imbalance.

Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - Effin Haole - 08-23-2006

Still, I am surprised, that's a lot of $'s to possibly part from in future earnings.

I can't stand the guy, but I would have to seriously rethink cutting him loose.

It isn't like he killed, attacked or molested anybody.

Geez, he's just a nut job. Whatever works for him.

He must of really did something to tick off Paramount. After all, this is the industry that stuck by Roman Polanski and Robert Downey Jr. I can understand why they dropped him, but I'm surprised they didn't sugarcoat the announcement like they usually do.

In the words of Brian Fellowes, "Dat's Crazy!"

Paramount want to appear politically correct, and they're afraid everybody thinks as BG does- that Cruise will no longer sell a movie.

They're wrong, and somebody at Paramount will be made to regret that decision.

After all, this is the industry that stuck by Roman Polanski and Robert Downey Jr.

Of that industry, was Paramount employing Polanski? Downey was a "there but for the Grace of God" guy. Very talented, a lot of people saw a little of themselves in him, and wanted to try and save him from himself.

I can understand why they dropped him..

I can't. Like Effin said, he didn't kill, attack, or molest anybody. Nor did he call for the overthrow of the government, kick a puppy, slap a little leaguer, or give a minor alcohol while making him his "special" friend.

He's less of a "whack job" than many of the "normal" people at this board. Now *that's* scary.

but I'm surprised they didn't sugarcoat the announcement like they usually do.

I don't know that the editorial "they" have ever sugar-coated an announcement for anybody they were unsympathetic for. It did seem harsh, though.

If Cruise makes two or three turkeys in a row, he'll be in trouble. But I'm betting that Paramount will quietly have some exec shot and buried in the spot vacated by Cruise's company.

Hopefully, as decent a guy as Cruise is, he'll never forgive Paramount.

Do you mean Sumner Redstone?
I don't know too much about Hollywood, but I do know that if Sumner Redstone wants you out, you're out.
And there's nobody who's gonna bury Sumner Redstone.

"As much as we like him personally," Redstone is quoted as saying, "we thought it was wrong to renew his deal." He then cited Cruise's "recent conduct" as the reason.
