Can't iMessage certain iPhone users - Kiva - 01-16-2015
Hi Folks
Anybody run across this? It doesn't google well.
I have 2 people in my contacts that I know are iPhone users and I have previously used iMessage with. Then, one day, I can't send messages via iMessage/Messages on my mac to either of them.
When I make a new message, their phone number / address turns red. All my other iPhone using friends continue to work fine. One of them I was able to reach and they turned iMessage on and off, but that didn't work.
Any ideas? I use messages on the mac all the time to talk to these folks, but can only do so via SMS on the phone.

none of those links address my specific issue. I'm not having global issues with iMessage. Just 2 users. Works fine with others.
I will confirm that they can send iMessages to others, as that could be the issue (hinted at in the first link). The other links don't apply.

I'm having the same problem - haven't found a fix. It's just one person - just stopped working one day and hasn't come back. Just fine on the iphone but not in Messages in Mac OS.

I'm having all kinds of problems with iMessage over the past couple months. Sometimes the situation you describe which affects one or two individuals and sometimes I can't send via iMessage at all.
Aggravating.

I don't know if this translates to imessages but I had a similar issue on an android phone. I had 2 people in my contacts list that could call me but when I called them it would go straight to voice mail. The fix that worked was to delete them and me from our respective contacts lists and then reboot. Then they called me and we added each other to contacts again and all was well. YMMV.

A month ago my son, my wife and I were out of the country. My daughter stayed home. All with iPhone 5's. The three of us who were away did not have cell service, only WiFi. My wife and I could text with our daughter but my son couldn't. Nor could he text with us. We tried to match every Setting on his 5 to be the same as ours but to no avail. We gave up and used Viber. Sometimes it just doesn't work. Like it was a Microsoft product.
