Guess what it is made from. Smile

Re: New clock - Filliam H. Muffman - 01-18-2015

My first guess would be an early Powerbook, but there aren't enough other chips on it.

Yep, it is the logic board from a dead original iMac. I had taken it apart to get the shell, possibly to make something out of, and had the insides lying around, so I decided to recycle the logic board into a clock face.

I still haven't done anything with the shell, but I want to. Smile

So now you'll have to keep changing the PRAM battery in order for it to have the correct time. Smile

Ha, ha, yeah. I don't think any of those jellybean iMacs every kept good time, and we had several. The clock in my Miata has never kept the correct time, always about 5-10 minutes fast.

We also went thru a bunch of G3 iMacs, and over all they were not an accurate bunch of timekeepers when left to their own devices. My fave, an early graphite slot loader gained about a minute and a half to two minutes a month, and rather than keep resetting it, it became a game to see if it would eventually slow down... and oh, BTW, I think there's an adapter available for the mezzanine slot if you want super-customize your clock:-)
