CarPlay is taking forever to show up in production vehicles - stephen - 02-07-2015

Probably good thing - because it's keeping me from buying a new car. :eye:

But man, it's taking a long time.

Car production cycles are a few years. They can't just impliment something "next year" even if it only seems like a fancy radio or nav. Aftermarket car stereo moves faster. Pioneer for example already has some Car Play models.

The delay is fine by me. Early reviews have not been positive.

Best to wait for the second-gen product.

As said, car production cycles take several years to catch up to this kind of tech. How long was it before CDs turned up in cars? Same for DVDs. I'm still flabbergasted that frakking Honda worked to put a goddamned vacuum cleaner in their van instead of USB power ports by each seat.
