Prosecutors painstakingly tried to build a case with pieces of evidence as tiny as a wad of gum on a shell casing found in a car rented by Mr. Hernandez. Also under scrutiny were Mr. Hernandez’s Size 13 Air Jordans, which may or may not have matched footprints found at the scene of the crime.
Their case was largely circumstantial. No murder weapon was located, and no independent witness to the shooting came forward.
Sounds like a future Serial podcast.

Yeah - it sounds like they got their conviction by elimination, which can make for perpetual doubt, a la Serial. Basically, the argument is like the one used against Adnan (and OJ, for that matter): who else could possibly have done this, and why? Unfortunately for Aaron, once you're convicted it's generally not good grounds for appeal.

What a way to screw up your life. It's unfortunate that this was not more clear-cut. It will probably affect the next case pending against him.
Urban Meyer tried to fix this guy by reading the bible with him.

I'm glad he was convicted, but don't understand the defenses strategy of admitting that Hernandez was there and witnessed the murder.
If you're admitting you was there, you expect to get off by casting doubt about which of your friends did the deed?
Sorry. If you want us to believe you had nothing to do with it and were surprised to witness the murder, then take the stand and tell us the whole story, including who DID do it and why.
Glad the jury felt the same way.

I was expecting a hung jury and mistrial. I figured he would get convicted in the other murder case pending against him. Way to throw away a million dollar lifestyle.

I had heard an interview with the sheriff of the county where Hernandez was held (can't think of the name at the moment) and he said that they were worried Hernandez might be attacked in jail. Instead Hernandez attacked another inmate and threatened a police officer with both death to the officer and his family!
