Apple's 2015 WWDC - Playing catchup, I vote I like the idea for Mac OS Ten Eleven and iOS9 - sekker - 06-09-2015 Was traveling, just got caught up with details. No new hardware, but I think it was a good announcement. A music service my family will probably subscribe as a family, and potentially the most stable releases of iOS (including split screen options for my iPads) and Mac OS X. If these are SL redeux, then we will be VERY happy. I could see Apple settling on these as reference releases; maybe require new hardware for OS Ten Twelve. I know - no sticky, etc. Did I miss something here? Is the issue that there was no flash and only substance? Re: Apple's 2015 WWDC - Playing catchup, I vote I like the idea for Mac OS Ten Eleven and iOS9 - silvarios - 06-10-2015 There was the ridiculous puff piece about how Apple is doing things as amazing as the entirety of the Industrial Revolution, but otherwise lot of content, and a whole factor less marketing glitz. I, as well, like the idea of making the updated OSes work really well, and polishing all those features added the last eight years. I don't know why anyone would subscribe to a music service that only works on one brand of product, so completely no interest for me personally. Another positive point, Apple seems to have dropped the requirement of paying for a developer license just to develop and test apps, while simultaneously combining all the app deployment licenses to a single license (Mac, iOS, and watch), costing a mere $99 annually. That's actually pretty darn cool. It's already happening. As a member, you get the entire Apple Music experience on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC. Apple Music is coming to Apple TV and Android this fall. http://www.apple.com/music/membership/ Re: Apple's 2015 WWDC - Playing catchup, I vote I like the idea for Mac OS Ten Eleven and iOS9 - silvarios - 06-10-2015 GGD wrote: I did! Thanks. That's more interesting. No iTunes, just the streaming part? I really wish Apple would open up as much as possible. I use iWork online stuff for creating simple documents, but syncing isn't directly supported on Android (nor any other mobile OS, I don't think). Re: Apple's 2015 WWDC - Playing catchup, I vote I like the idea for Mac OS Ten Eleven and iOS9 - GGD - 06-10-2015 Are the cell phone companies the real winners in all of these streaming music services, getting to sell more GBs of data each month? Re: Apple's 2015 WWDC - Playing catchup, I vote I like the idea for Mac OS Ten Eleven and iOS9 - RAMd®d - 06-10-2015 I enjoyed it too. Lots of good stuff, nothing bad. I watched the Apple stream and the MacBreak Weekly stream. It's fun to see Andy Ihantko correct Leo Laporte on just about everything. Unfortunately, Rene Ritchie was at the Keynote and not the MBW broadcast so he couldn't help Andy explain to Leo what was going on. I'm looking forward to iOS9 and El Capitan. The latter name is pretty telling. Re: Apple's 2015 WWDC - Playing catchup, I vote I like the idea for Mac OS Ten Eleven and iOS9 - N-OS X-tasy! - 06-10-2015 I like to tell the story of how I beat out Andy Ihantko at a Mac trivia contest at Macworld 2003. True story - dmann was there and can back me up. ![]() Re: Apple's 2015 WWDC - Playing catchup, I vote I like the idea for Mac OS Ten Eleven and iOS9 - Article Accelerator - 06-10-2015 silvarios wrote: I was similarly scoffing at Gutenberg. The big deal here is Android, and the point was already covered. That's a pretty big deal because Apple does not usually support Android. |
