El Niño weather event may bring mucho rain to CA this winter - steve... - 07-10-2015

It's not a sure thing yet, but this is definitely good news.

San Jose Mercury News

...the trend is significantly increasing the chances that storms will drench the state this winter, according to a new report released by federal scientists Thursday. And scientists say the conditions are lining up in ways not seen since the winter of 1997-98, when downpours filled reservoirs and sent rivers raging during the last major El Niño.

See, my left knee told me earlier that it was going to rain too much this winter in California.

Actually, snow is what we need.
Snowpack in the Sierras is where our water supply comes from.

But it's all good if it's precipitation.

If storms drench the state that should mean snow for the higher elevations.

I remember the massive drought of 1977. Never stopped raining the next winter. It's going to simply because I say so. Forget the computers, prognostigators, meth heads, money changers. Me. If I fail, I will change my name to Reek.

Maybe.

And if we have a good base of snow from storms that originate in the Northern Pacific, the El Nino rains will melt that snow creating a flood risk.

I hope you're not getting our Pacific Northwest rain! We need it here where it belongs.

Ah, yes, the drought of '77. It ended for me when I met Valerie. Sigh . . . .
