Apple's dirty little secret: sucky software

Oh Apple, what happened to the days when you were the interface of choice because you were easier to understand than any other tech product?

If you have experienced the company’s recent products you know that those days are far in the past, sacrificed to thinner, lighter, more beautiful hardware sold with any old software the company can push out.

Can't say I disagree.

iTunes, cough cough, iTunes.

iTunes. How on earth is that an Apple product? I ask myself that every single time I (attempt to) use it.

It's almost as if she read my post from last week before writing that!:

I have given up on the idea that Apple will ever again be what it once was. Today's Apple is more interested in being a purveyor of style than a leader in usability.

Re: Apple's sucky software - RAMd®d - 11-20-2015

I want iTunes to do what it does, everything I want all in one place.

It just has to be dissembled and rebuilt from the ground up, instead of being the Winchester Mystery House. (Who coined that? Pure genius!)

And yes, more HIG. iTunes is not a graceful blend of style and substance. I know many here hate that, but I love it. It just isn't there in a lot of Apple software.

I'm no geek, but I do dislike that Apple has tried to make it's OS and attendant software accessible to 90% of the world at the expense of the experienced user. It's a little more work to make both camps happier, but it's not the same as trying to support generations and generations of hardware (which they famously don't do.

Still, it's not enough to drive me to any other platform.

My question is, in view of all the indignation, moral outrage, general rants, and mostly kvetching about hardware and software, who has regularly contacted Apple feedback and Tim, even, (yes, he has "people" to read that) with reasoned arguments, instead of AppleInsider worthy wailing and gnashing of teeth?

I'm trying to develop the habit of advising them of articulated points of my discontent. If I can post a grip here, then I can jot off an email. It's certainly not enough and they may think I'm sick and it won't get past the Junk folder. But can you imagine if fifty people a day did it?
