Getting a 6s. Any point in shopping around? - graylocks - 11-21-2015

i am getting a 6s and it occurs to me that now is a good time to be putting my 5s up for sale. i'm planning on paying full price for the 6s. is there any point to shopping around or waiting for any "Black Friday" deals or should i just make my junket to the apple store and be done with it?

Can you get like 5% off by ordering through the Shop Discover portal? I know that Discover usually has 5% off at the Apple Store if you order through their portal, but I don't know if it works for an iPhone, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

There is also a thread over at SD talking about getting 10% back from Discover if you use Apple Pay in-store. You might check into that, too.

I don't think I have seen any other deals, if you are paying full price, but maybe someone else has.

Last year, Apple threw in $50 iTMS cards with iPhone purchases.

You'll have to decide whether it's worth fighting the crowds for that incentive.

If you purchase from someone else, particularly a carrier, I'd make certain the phone is unlocked, with no strings.

my Discover account is showing a 5% cashback bonus but i generally make large electronic purchases on Amex to get the 90 damage/theft protection and the double warranty. and i'll at least get 1% with that. good thought, though.

Yep, a BF deal.

How about costco? Usually no upgrade fees.

These are over at dealnews:

Phone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus with a $250 Target Gift Card for $0 down at Target
Anything that can take the sting out of paying $650 or $750, respectively, for these Apple phones is a blessing. Assuming you can find something to spend $250 on at Target makes this the best deal we've seen on either of these models.

Of note, Walmart will have the iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus bundled with a $100 bill credit and $100 Walmart gift card, if you're looking to shave money off the cost of the purchase of the actual phone and not on some mysterious future purchase.

My Discover now also doubles the warranty, just like Amex, and I think it also has the 90 day loss/theft/damage. You might want to call and see if yours has that now. They just added these new coverages recently, I think.

shop around carefully, though it's not all bad; if you're dyslexic you'll end up w/ this...

If you want a 6s 64 gig at Apple, walk in and pay the $820. Get the sim free model, and you can go anywhere and SIM it up. And sell your iPhone 5s.

It will be unlocked. And it will be all yours. All you will need to do is pay for Service.
