Really OT: Best way to backup new Windows 10 laptop? - JEBB - 11-22-2015 This is a new refurb Lenovo Thinkpad 11e - 4GB RAM, 500GB HD. I've upgraded it from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Now I want to be sure that I can't lose everything. It doesn't have a recovery partition. I'm not aware of a Time Machine look-alike. What are my choices? Thanks. Re: Really OT: Best way to backup new Windows 10 laptop? - Filliam H. Muffman - 11-22-2015 Ask Lenovo? You were supposed to run the Lenovo backup procedure as soon as you started it the first time. I believe updating it to Win10 breaks that option, except there are versions of the 11e that come with Win10. I used Macrium Reflect to clone my Lenovo (AMD CPU) internal to a SSD, which I then installed. Do you just want a backup to restore to the current condition, or continuing backups? If you can convince online support that you "destroyed" the OS installation on it, they might send you a recovery disc or flash drive. Re: Really OT: Best way to backup new Windows 10 laptop? - Acer - 11-22-2015 Windows 10 has a built-in backup feature. You'll need to enable it and to decide on a destination, e.g. an external drive.
