Winter is here, too. - DP - 11-23-2015

Haven't posted because we were Up North this past weekend as we had yet to get the boats out of the water! I think this is the latest we've left them in and we have been so busy that we haven't been able to go up. Last week tho there were all the dire storm warnings which did include our cottage location. So we figured we better do it even tho we had to change some plans. There was supposed to be a lot of snowfall then very cold temps. It turned out the storm went further south than first predicted, so the southern part of lower MI got the worst, and we barely had a dusting at the cottage!
But, we drove up on Friday and while the wife hooked up the trailer I got down to the dock to the pontoon boat and fired up the engine.
Only it wouldn't stay fired up...
It ran fine all Summer but no matter how I tried it wouldn't stay running. And the wind was howling and I was freezing. I have used an oar and paddled it before (it's a small boat) but the wind was too strong and was blowing perfectly perpendicular to the direction I needed to go.
Well, it was starting to get dark and I gave up and hoped for the best on Saturday. I was up when it was light and lo! and behold it was dead calm and it hadn't started snowing yet! Wife took off with the trailer and I got my travel mug full of steaming hot coffee, sat on the bow, and paddled off the 200-250 yards to the launch. Got the boat up on the trailer and it's out of the water along with the Hobie Cat and we're good for Winter!
It started snowing in the afternoon but it was light and we barely got a dusting. Pretty, tho.
Here was Sunday morning at the cottage:

As we were driving home but still not far from the cottage, we still had to deal with heavy snow showers:

We were talking with friends and family all weekend so we knew there was a lot more snow at home. Here's what we have:

And some of the trees that aren't quite done yet:

A neighbors front step:

And it's cold too! 28º right now...
I didn't see it on Black's post but Illinois also set a record for the most snow ever in November. Just in the one day!

Winter is here too. It actually dipped down to 50 here this morning. I had to wear a long sleeve shirt!

Very nice photos! Glad I don't have to deal with the white stuff.

Wow, that is some ugly white stuff.

I just took this quick pic with my iPad through the window of our apartment. Sadly, we will only be here another week (before we leave for Argentina for a week or so followed by a few days in Rio de Janeiro, then back home to Minnesota for a week before we go to Mexico City and Bradenton, FL for a couple of weeks. Winter should be short this year for us!)

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

Wow! What part of St. Cloud is that?

The far southern part, I'd guess...

Duh, I forgot to mention, yes, the far, far southern part of town (Viña del Mar, Chile).
