I just thanked the admin for closing a thread that ended up being nothing more than trading insults. He/she responded telling me that it was only noticed because of people DESPERATELY trying to convince the admin that a recently punished member (who will remain nameless) should be permanently banned. And the admin isn't liking it!
SO, STOP IT!
IMO, this forum needs to stand alone - that means treating others reasonably AND not whining about every damned perceived slight. That means moving forward without the need of moderation. Get thicker skin
The admin pretty much just told me as much - that they are thinking about posting a SERIOUS warning and if that doesn't work, REMOVING THE FORUM.
So maybe he who must not be named would love nothing more than to bring about the end of this forum. If so, your best weapon is to IGNORE HIM. Stop following your nemesis around and commenting on what a jerk he is - IGNORE HIM. Or risk the end of our little playground.
Once closed, it won't come back - ever.

Agreed, it's best not to respond to him. As noted before, during his absence, the forum was fairly peaceful and there was good discussion going on without his attempts to derail threads. Through his trolling, he's deliberately trying to be a nuisance to the mods both indirectly and directly. I don't understand why, after the first banning, he would deliberately plot a course in the same direction again, but that's his illness. I would not take it to the mods. If he doesn't change, they will notice, and he'll be gone for good. Best to not respond when he tries to troll.

Yes, if someone bothers you then put them on Ignore. It took me years to learn how to really use Ignore, but it's like quitting smoking: once you do it you can't believe how dumb you used to be.
And for God's sake, if you cannot help yourself and feel you must respond to somebody that you KNOW many people have on Ignore, then be polite and don't quote them. Picking fights with someone who has come here to pick fights means you are equally complicit in their stupidity. I have no idea why people keep picking at that scab and then complaining that it bothers them.
I also have no idea why some people can't find anything better to do on the internet then hang out with people they claim they can't stand, but there it is.

agree with the above but keep in mind no one will get banned, temporarily or permanently based on only their own actions because there's no moderation and there's apparently nothing wrong or against the terms of service with harming the forum by trolling -- so yeah, don't complain
Ignore until they get bored enough to leave on their own.
