setup as new, or restore from backup? - rz - 02-03-2016 I have two iPads: One is a 64GB iPad 3 with about 30GB used. The other was my son's iPad Air, only 16GB. I got his when my wife upgraded and he got her old iPad. Anyway, I'm not sure whether I should setup the Air as new, or restore from backup. I am wanting to use both iPads, but for different stuff. I do want to use several apps on both devices. Obviously, not everything on my backup will fit on the Air. If I restore from backup, will iTunes get confused between the two? Right now it calls my iPad "rz's iPad". I was thinking of calling the Air "rz's Air". Can I do that if I restore from backup? Will it give me the option of picking and choosing what apps to load? Conversely, if I setup as new, will it let me share apps between the two? Re: setup as new, or restore from backup? - Lew Zealand - 02-03-2016 Set up as new and use the same iCloud account in the App store and you will be able to download all the Apps you've paid for on the newer device. We have 3 iPads and 4 iPhones which use the same iCloud account. Pay once, download 7 times. I'm cheap. Re: setup as new, or restore from backup? - Lew Zealand - 02-03-2016 Same goes for the OS X App Store. Pay once, download 11 times. Did I mention I'm cheap? Re: setup as new, or restore from backup? - rz - 02-03-2016 Thanks. I'll set it up tomorrow. |
