iCloud syncing question - JEBB - 02-15-2016 If my iCloud devices get out of sync can I assume that the info at icloud.com is still present and still king. Can I turn off iCloud on all of my devices and, when I turn iCloud back on on all those devices, will they sync to what is on icloud.com? Or does not having iCloud on on at least one device erase all my iCloud info? Thanks. Re: iCloud syncing question - Spiff - 02-15-2016 IIRC, you can turn off all devices and turn them on again. However, you do not want to merge data when the devices are back on. You want to replace the data on the device with the data from iCloud. Otherwise, yes, you can "contaminate" the iCloud data. Re: iCloud syncing question - jimbrady - 02-15-2016 If iCloud.com shows all necessary data, turn off iCloud on the misbehaving device and allow local iCloud data to be deleted from the device. When you sign in again on the device, it's fine to "merge" as the device has no data of its own to put in. Re: iCloud syncing question - Manlove - 02-15-2016 How much does it suck that two replies get two different answers, and not because the replies are stupid but because the whole cloud thing is such a freakin mess? Re: iCloud syncing question - jimbrady - 02-16-2016 Works fine for me. |
