If you're in the market for a mic, this guy does a good job of comparing 7 microphones, complete with sound samples of each for your own comparison.

I do wish he'd included the Blue Snowball USB mic. It costs $200 retail ($149 at Amazon) and has three settings, making it WAY more versatile than any of the ones he tested.

The unidirectional "vocal" setting is FANTASTIC -- the quality is worthy of a MUCH more expensive mic.

The "live music" middle setting (you might also call this "chorus" or "unidirectional group") isn't as good, but it's range is impressive.

The "group vocal" (omnidirectional) is what podcasters will love -- one mic can pick up EVERYBODY in the discussion, no matter where in the room they are.

Love this thing.
