Thinking about the Toyota Rav4 Hybrid - Forrest - 07-01-2016

Thinking about buying the 2016 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. It's only $700 more than the gas AWD model, has 20% better gas mileage, 15% more power and it's 15% quicker 0-60 mph. All the reviews I've found make it seem like a no brainer to get the hybrid model. Only downside compared to the gas AWD model is you can't divert more power to the rear wheel in off-road conditions - I have no plans to drive this off-road. Comments welcome.

Sounds like it makes sense, but when I drove the gas Rav4, I found it rather boring to drive. Preferred the Mazda CX-5 and Audi Q3

Been looking at that one, myself. Probably going to hold off until next year to jump as Toyota always seems to screw up something in the 1st year of production and I'm put off by the stupid paint colors they chose.

My spouse has a 2014 RAV4 and she loves it.

The Audi Q3 gets a combined gas mileage of 23, compared to 33 for the Rav4 hybrid - no thanks. 0-60 times are nearly identical.

If it's a plugin hybrid, go for it. Otherwise, wait awhile.

Yeah that almost all wheel drive and extremely low ground clearance pretty much make it a street machine.

I never liked how the older rav4 ( the early honda crv was the same way, maybe they all are ) clunked engaging and disengaging. Gotya through the snow though when other cars would just spin their wheels and slide around.

If it had one more row of seats, I would get one. I am still hoping for Honda to make a hybrid version of the Pilot or the Odyssey.

:agree: about Honda making a hybrid Pilot. A niece has a Pilot, and my F150 4WD gets better mpg than the Pilot! So many of those mid size SUVs just aren't very fuel efficient.
