What's a nostalgic purchase you have made for the heck of it? - pRICE cUBE - 07-02-2016

I am sitting here contemplating purchasing a Nikon 400mm AF-I lens. It weighs about 16 pounds, about twice the weight of modern 400mm 2.8 lenses. Originally manufactured in 1994, it isn't exactly cutting edge. I used this lens in my college days and would love to have it just for nostalgic purposes. It would be impractical to won and there are other lenses I could buy. I imagine putting this on a Nikon F4 and shooting a roll of film.

What's a nostalgic purchase you have made for the heck of it?

I bought a Konica T4 a few years ago just because it was my first camera and would complete my collection of all the primary cameras I owned during my career (T4, Nikon F2, FM, F4, Kodak NC1000, Nikon 8008s, Nikon D1, Canon 30D)

I also bought a Zagnut candy bar because they were my childhood favorite

Well, you at least would get some use out of the lens you are looking at. I just bought a 20mm lens with viewfinder for my old Nikonos cameras. I have no plans on doing any more diving, at least not with a film camera. Totally useless, but I never had one.

I wish I had known, I would have sold you mine as I've been meaning to get rid of it along with my Ikelite strobes

As a childhood baseball FANATIC, I spent many hours reading through my Baseball Encyclopedia and still can conjure odd stats seemingly from out of nowhere.

When the family moved when I was 12, I decided that I had outgrown this hobby and I let it go.

One day a few years ago, I found myself on a baseball stats site because I just had to know some little bit of info and fondly thought back to those days with my Baseball Encyclopedia. Then jumped straight to ebay, found the same version I had way back when and bought it! I almost never pull it down from the shelf, but I'm SO GLAD to have it back.

SO HAPPY!

I scoured Google and eBay for weeks looking for this robot from my childhood. I traded it away to a classmate for a Nintendo Game & Watch. I had no idea what it was called. I just knew it was Japanese. From the 80s. It transformed bit and had flying fists. Needless to say the search query came back with 10,000 hits.

Behold the GoDaikin Goggle V.
