Best bandage for someone taking Plavix who works on farm and has bleeding crises often - Dennis S - 07-03-2016

My cousin has stents and is taking plavix. He said even a briar can cause him to bleed for hours. He has to work on equipment and his truck plus general things around the farm. I told there was some kind of bandage from Israel that was for wounds, but I can't find exactly the right thing. Ideally, I think he would benefit from assorted sizes, but I need to find the product first.

I have no idea but this thread has the best subject line I can recall.

There are bandages impregnated with clotting agents (celox? I think?), but some of the clotting agents can cause chemical burns if applied incorrectly...
I would google for "quick-clot" or "celox" and "bandage", then definitely he should ask his doctor about them to see if they should be used in your friends situation or if the clotting agents are more for "big emergencies' like stab or gunshot wounds.

Edit: checking Amazon to see if I was spelling Celox correctly, I found this... Which may work well in this situation.

WoundSeal POWDER! It can be difficult to find. I get it at my local RiteAid.

It really works, although it can be tricky to apply because it's a powder.

I've been using this since I started taking Plavix after my two recent angioplasties.

Would something like this work?

I'm on blood thinners and have used the Woundseal powder a few times to good effect. It's specifically made for people on blood thinners. Easy to carry around with you.

I'm going to buy them for him since he doesn't have internet and was sold on the Israeli bandages, but then wondered if they will peel the skin off in the places it's too thin.

This sounds like a risky situation for your friend. When my dad was farming, he always had cuts and scrapes. Stuff just happens when you are dealing with equipment and so forth. Some really horrid things could happen if people weren't smart about corn pickers and power take offs.
