So I understand why Durant would want to be there. I'm not a fan of him going, though.
Will there be the same type of backlash as there was when Lebron left Cleveland?

Durant said he made a "basketball" decision. It was not the money. He could have made just as much in OKC. I think he sold out going to GS. I would have had more respect for him if he had gone to Boston.

I don't think he sold out. He had a right to get a fresh look at the league. But going to the Warriors, a team that his team had down 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals is
WEAK!
When LeBron left for Miami, the Cavs had nobody other than him to compete with. But Durant has a world-class coach, a superstar guard partner. They even got rid of Ibaka to appease him.
Weak.

I think this is about the money.
One year playing with GS is the wisest move as far as his future worth is concerned.
He could have gotten Brady-like notoriety in Boston, there's still a year from now if any team can afford him then.

I think that would been a great move. A budding star guard in Isiah Thomas who would defer to him, a great coach and really promising pieces surrounding him. I think the Celtics are going to contend regardless.

I think Kevin Durant should have come to the Wizards. That's an interesting team with Wall, Beal, Porter, Durant, and Gortat. Mix in Dudley and Nene off the bench. That's a decent seven man roster. Also, getting to the finals in easier in the East. Toronto, Boston, and the Cavaliers are the only contenders right now. We will see how the rest of the offseason unfolds.

The Cavs weren't even a playoff team. They sucked after LeBron left. The Celtics, Pacers, Bulls, etc. were all bigger competitors for Miami than Cleveland.

Uh, he wants to win a ring, so why not go to a team that's been to the finals the last two years running and whose glaring weakness is best addressed by exactly what you have to offer? No other team puts him in a better position to win a title than he has in OKC. It strikes me that the only legitimate options were GSW or stay in OKC.
If everyone is satisfied financially, it strikes me as a very smart move.
Disclosure: I've been a GSW fan since I lived in Oakland in the '80s.
