new iPhone: which one? - space-time - 07-05-2016

I could get a new iPhone from my company, or I could wait until the Fall to get a new one. I am not sure what iPhone 7 could do better than current models. I don't see any killer feature any time soon.

So here is what I can get today. Note that I am using a 3 year old iPhone 5.

iPhone SE 64GB is a free upgrade
iPhone 6S 64GB is a $200 out of pocket cost for employee
iPhone 6S 128GB is a $300 out of pocket cost for employee

I am tempted to go with SE just because I like the form factor. too bad they don't make this in 128 GB.

Since it's company provided, I'd go with the free one. Save your coin for something else.

.....if you have no preferences.......get the free one....the SE has the power of the 6 in the form factor of the 5......why pay for an iPhone especially since the new one is around the corner.........

As I said in another thread, I'm hoping to see a bump to 128GB in the SE when they release the iPhone 7. I have not seen any rumors about this, though.

I have a few friends who got the SE and are very happy with it.

Go with the free one. The SE has a ridiculously small screen, but the battery life helps make up for it.

Go for the SE.

Had a new battery put in my 5 and she's as good or better than new as far battery life. I still like the non-rounded edges better than the new iPhones.

Cannot answer without more information:

What do you use your smart phone for? This determines form factor and capacity.

Also, your vision? The larger screen is far better for me over the smaller iP5 screen.

Free is good, the SE has 6s guts (no Force Touch), and you like the the size.

Storage could be better, but even though I've only got about 5G free in my 5s, I'd get an SE over more storage in a comically large phone.

I really don't think we'll see an upgrade to the SE in September. As always, I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like the cycle might be every March for the SE and have last year's high end.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if Apple kept it as a regular model and only upgraded it every two years. Let the numbered series get yearly upgrades.

Of course, I'll wait until September to see what's what. I don't know I can wait until March, if that's the new September for the SE.

What killer feature could there reasonably be anymore, anytime soon? Wireless charging would probably be the Big Thing for me. I *love* it with my Watches. Longer battery life? Eh.

Thinner, bigger, rounder, and slipperier don't do it for me. At least not in 'Phones. For my money, the 4-5s shape with the flat edges is the nicest looking 'Phone ever made.

Also, I think there will be some significant compromises in the iP7 - like no RCA jack - that could make earlier iPhones preferred...
