I missed this G4 Cube article from Macworld back in March - Grateful11 - 07-07-2016 Makes me want to fire mine up. Have one complete and one for parts. You just don't see many articles on the Cube anymore. http://www.macworld.com/article/3044049/hardware/behold-the-g4-cube-apples-most-epic-computer-ever.html Re: I missed this G4 Cube article from Macworld back in March - Gareth - 07-07-2016 Got mine on close out from CompUSA for $800. It now sits in a closet with a ~1.3GHz upgrade (I think it was supposed to be faster, but wasn't stable at its spec'd speed). One day, when I have space, it'll be out on display. Re: I missed this G4 Cube article from Macworld back in March - pqrst - 07-07-2016 It is a beautiful piece of design. Especially for a desktop machine. Re: I missed this G4 Cube article from Macworld back in March - Speedy - 07-07-2016 I still have one that I can't give away. But I did manage to get rid of three others on the For Sale & Free Items forum. Re: I missed this G4 Cube article from Macworld back in March - silvarios - 07-07-2016 The Power Mac G4 was always a better bang for your buck and the sprawling nature of the Cube's peripherals meant it was far from a space saver on desk. The power adapter, digital audio adapter, speakers, keyboard, and mouse all tended to be all over the place. It was limited in its expansion and quite pricey originally. Re: I missed this G4 Cube article from Macworld back in March - jdc - 07-07-2016 Bought mine in clearance from BB for $1099 -- just the 450 MHZ one, but I added a 32 MB fanless GeForce card and lots of ram. Then a fast 40 GB drive. Sold it for $1000 a few years later... not sure if it was a good or bad thing, kinda like my 9600/350. Sold it, but maybe should have kept it for longer? Re: I missed this G4 Cube article from Macworld back in March - RgrF - 07-07-2016 It sure was pretty. Sent mine to a MR poster in Texas, last I heard he was looking for a password that I no longer had, not sure if he got any real value from it since it cost a boatload to ship. Re: I missed this G4 Cube article from Macworld back in March - ka jowct - 07-07-2016 Like a lot of other people at MacWorld Expo that year, I found a lot to like about it, despite the connectivity issues. The price was mainly what killed it, in my opinion. |
