Unlocked iPhone replacement? - space-time - 07-20-2016

my ATT iPhone is out of contract and I was able to unlock it; the iPhone is now pregnant (i.e. battery is swelling), and I plan to try my luck at an Apple Store to see if they replace the battery. I heard that in some cases they replace the entire iPhone. In that case, do I need to point out that this is unlocked? I would like to get an unlocked unit if possible.

Thanks

If the phone is replaced by Apple, the unlock will carry over to the replacement unit automagically, but for a battery they don't replace the unit, just the battery...

They'll ask if you backed up and have you turn of Find My iPhone. Neither apply so you are good to go. Good luck.

Of course I will back up. In fact tomorrow I get a new iPhone (SE) and I plan to import just contacts, and install only the Apps I really use. I will download all photos and back up just in case, after which I will restore iPhone to factory settings before going to Apple Store.
