Can I use iPod mini's ac adapter to charge other USB devices? - maurycy - 09-25-2006

Hi,

Pretty much what the title says. I have Palm which can be charged thru USB connection. Can I use my mini's charger for that?

Thanks,
maurycy

I've never had a "USB" adapter/charger from one device not work with other devices that also charge via USB.

As long as the other device you are trying to charge does not require more power than the adapter can provide, it should work.

The maximum output of your AC adapter will be stated somewhere on it, something like 2A (two amps) or perhaps something in watts. Check the device you want to charge and see that it does not exceed the number on the adapter. If it does, you may end up blowing a fuse in the AC adapter, or if it does not have a fuse then it may simply overheat which is even worse.

Thanks. I will check the specs on both units and try it.
