arg! coins in the cd player! - davemchine - 09-25-2006 My 2yr old just loves to climb from seat to seat in my wife's car (when it's parked) and pretend she is grown up. Well last night she filled my wife's cd player with coins! I'll have to take it in to a shop to have them empty it out. It is stock, i don't know how much of the dash will have to be removed, it sounds expensive though. Dave Re: arg! coins in the cd player! - papercup - 09-25-2006 Hilarious. I bet it sounds expensive. Re: arg! coins in the cd player! - volcs0 - 09-25-2006 A new receiver might not cost much more. I upgraded the head unit in my car for $150 from Crutchfield and did it myself...and I'm not that handy. My favorite was cookie cutters in the VCR... having kids is expensive in a lot of ways. Re: arg! coins in the cd player! - MartyStickle - 09-25-2006 But you'll recover the coins...so you can deduct that cost from the total cost! Re: arg! coins in the cd player! - Michael - 09-25-2006 If you are feeling handy, you might find Crutchfield's guides to installing a stereo in your car all you need to slip it out, shake it out, and stick it back in. Re: arg! coins in the cd player! - davemchine - 09-26-2006 Well I managed to get the stereo out of the dash but it is impossible to open the unit up as it is sealed with some type of divits. So I shook out a penny, nickel and a quarter. There's still one more coin in there but I couldn't get it out. I put the unit back in the car and now it plays cd's but only up to track 5. I tried several cd's with exactly the same result. So tomorrow I'll borrow a cd cleaner and see if that helps. Other than that I guess I'd have to replace the unit. Dave Re: arg! coins in the cd player! - Carm - 09-26-2006 The laser unit is probably hitting the last coin that remains inside, preventing it from reading past a track 5 on any cd. Remove it again and shake the shite out of it. Have something holding the brushes open to help the last coin out. (my guess its a dime.) ![]() Carm |
