What talent do you need in that venue beyond garnering viewers and selling advertising ?
Any more talent than, say, Martha Stewart ?

Martha does have talent.
RR seems to rely on being perky. I find her annoying.

Well - If you try to do some of Martha's recipes and projects, they usually turn out pretty well.
She has pretty good taste and researches her ideas.
I do like the old more perfect show better than the new live Martha.

It doesn't matter if you think her food sucks.
Any more than it doesn't matter if I don't believe Martha could decorate if her life depended on it.
Their airtime and books and marketing sell.

Martha purchases her talent in the same fashion Jay Leno and David Letterman purchase their jokes and gags.

Well....there are many new shows, but not one of them is getting pimped on other TV shows like RR. I guess the power of Oprah is behind most of it.
