911 used as a mattress sale advertisement - Ombligo - 09-09-2016

In what has easily got to be the most tasteless ad of the year, A Texas Mattress company announced a 911 Twin Tower Mattress Sale (any size mattress for the price of a twin). The ad features mattresses piled into two towers which are knocked down at the end.

“What better way to remember 9/11 than with a Twin Tower sale?” a woman says moments before two men fall over backwards and send two towers of mattresses tumbling to the ground. One of the mattress towers is adorned with a small American flag.

The owner of the store has since closed the store through 9/11 and will announce accountability actions against those who put out the TV advertisement. https://twitter.com/barrientosjamie/status/774329522413907968

We once got a supermarket flier in the mail with a drawing of MLK and a balloon coming from his mouth: "I had a dream...of great savings!" WTF

The problem here is the girl in the commercial is the owners daughter AND produces all their marketing materials including this ad.

If you read some of the comments on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/miraclemattress210/ you will see that many people feel these apologies from the owner are mostly damage control BS and that he knew about the ad. There are also claims of the daughter negatively engaging commenters and calling them names. She has also stated that "Daddy is proud of me and will never fire me".

These people are a piece of work and probably deserve what's coming to them. Updated story here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/911-mattress-commercial_us_57d24ecee4b06a74c9f40c65

Yeah, because the collapse of the towers was such a hoot...what were they thinking? Maybe they need to walk around my area and take a long look at the commemorative plaques on the local firehouses.

What makes it even worse is the insincere "We'll never forget" statement at the very end.

You'd think one of the people involved would have said "this is not a good idea." It must have been a nest of idiots.
