Just Got The Book-Recording The Beatles:The Studio Equipment & Techniques Used to Create Their Classic Albums - JoeM - 09-26-2006 For quite some time, I had been looking for a book that was published in 70's and had track sheets and info on the Beatles recording sessions. Never found it as it was out of print and couldn't really identify the book's title. But I just received this new book, "Recording The Beatles" and I have to say it's fantastic. If you are interested in very technical info regarding their sessions, the gear and recording techniques that was used to produce their music than this is for you. It's loaded with pics and charts Not cheap - $100.00 but worth every penny to me (I would have paid double without batting an eye). While most of this gear is a bit before my time, I was lucky enough to experience and use some of the mics and gear mentioned in the book in the early 70's, when I was a kid starting out. IMHO, very little of today's recording gear can even come close to creating the sonic vibe I heard years ago from that stuff. If you have any interest in their recordings, I recommend you check this book out (Hey Jimmypoo!): http://www.recordingthebeatles.com/ ![]() Re: Just Got The Book-Recording The Beatles:The Studio Equipment & Techniques Used to Create Their Classic Albums - ka jowct - 09-26-2006 I think I have that book; I'll have to do some excavating here. I know Jack White uses a lot of old school studio equipment. Re: Just Got The Book-Recording The Beatles:The Studio Equipment & Techniques Used to Create Their Classic Albums - JoeM - 09-26-2006 I've seen both books but don't own them. Thanks for the links, guys. brofoski wrote: >>What do you think of the White Stripes Joe? I know Jack White uses a lot of old school studio equipment. Haven't heard much, only a couple of tunes. Wasn't too knocked out without a bass in the stuff. I've been meaning to check out his new band, The Raconteurs but haven't had a chance. |
