Can't find printer on network... wazzup? - Buzz - 09-26-2006 Old fax drone has been running marvelously for years all of a sudden no longer sees LJ6mp on network. Multi-timed Frankenmac'ed 7300 running 8.6, never had this problem before... all other nodes on LAN see 7300 and printer, and 7300 sees other nodes, but not printer. Restarted, trashed prefs, zapped pram, printer remains invisible. Desktop printer retains selection, acts like it is spooling print job, then craps out saying can't find printer. Still on 8.6 because box was running Remus RAID array, and 8.6 was latest OS Remus supported. RAID box died (remnants to Harbourmaster), and haven't bothered to upgrade yet; will do so upon replacing 2GB U2WSCSI drives w/ 9GB'ers, but in mean time, how do we get printing back short of full OS install/reinstall? Thanks, Buzz == Re: Can't find printer on network... wazzup? - Frank Pardue - 09-26-2006 If the printer isn't showing up in the Chooser when you select the laserwriter driver, then check the AppleTalk control panel setting and see if it is set to ethernet. Macs of that vintage default to the Appletalk/serial port if the PRAM battery dies or you do a PRAM reset. Bingo!... knew I was having a brain fart, after recent death of MIL and greater than usual pain in nerve damaged body, remaining neurons not functioning at apex. [would slap self, but already in sufficient pain, add'l slapping unnecessary, will likely see vicariously tonight on NCIS] Thanks, needed to print stuff for kid, to whom everything is an emergency. |
